[ap-utils] changes to wap won't stick

Greetings,
I recently purchased a Belkin WAP (F5D6130) and used the windoze client to
change its default IP address.  Since that time, i've been attempting to
use the latest stable release of ap-utils to setup the other configuration
options.  The problem i'm having is any changes that i make are fine (and
are seen by my laptop using its wifi card) until i power off the WAP.
After that time it reverts back to the defaults, ecluding the IP address
change that was made with the windoze software.

Am i missing something obvious here?
